As with anything new there are some growing
pains. So please be patient as we at Sports Lore do
some fine-tuning. A tweak here, a tweak there, it all
adds up. For example we changed the background color
in the article area. We have added links to major sports
standings. We are working on an address for a free newsletter.
A great addition is a section called "From The
Sidelines". With that, and "Chef Mike's Tailgate
Talk" we are different than any other sports sites
I am aware of. With your help, and sending of mail,
we hope to become more and more reader driven. Meaning
you the readers will have the Sports Lore steering wheel.
We appreciate the mail and comments we
have gotten. Some of the mail from readers has appeared
already. However, some questions have come up. Dave
from Denver, Co. wanted to know if it would be OK for
him to write a story on throwing a discus? There was
a time he participated in this event. Did it count as
a sport?
Sure it does, and please write on Dave.
At Sports Lore just about everything is considered a
sport. Certainly any track and field, racing, Olympic,
or athletic competition is a sport worth putting to
print. The only thing we won’t print is mean, fact less,
slander. We know there is some bad with every good.
Our goal is too highlight the good out there. So for
those who want to vent this is not the forum.
Larry in Naples, Florida wrote in about
our Mickey Shuler article. He remembers a documentary
where Lawrence Taylor was thrown out of a game because
of his anger with Schuler. Could we write about that?
Sorry Larry, but we don’t remember that.
We would enjoy getting a story or article from you about
it. There are no minimum or maximum story or article
lengths. If more comfortable put it in a letterform.
Nor are there spacing or font size requirements. As
for spelling we will proofread it here. No doubt some
mistakes will get by. They always do.
Two folks mentioned they don’t like to
type, or feel they can’t write. If you see an article
on the web that you like send it in. Just make sure
you include the source and author. We will try to secure
permission at this end for using it. However, all credit
for finding it will go to you. Another way is to contact
us about a story. We will try to assist you in ghost
writing it. This means our name will not be on it. Once
you approve the article, story, whatever, it will be
used with your name only.
We feel that if you can send an e-mail
we can build a story with your help. So please don’t
hold back. To protect your privacy we will just use
first names and towns. Unless you, the writer, want
it differently. We already had one contributor who requested
no edit, and that his full name and e-mail be given.
It was done. If you would feel better contacting us
via snail mail or phone let me know. Something will
be worked out. For example if the volume of requests
for this service warrants it we will get a PO Box. One
way or the other we will be here for you, the readers.
As a final note we have no real time table
on the frequency of written changes. For the most part
they will appear here and there. So at least once a
week we hope to have some section of the site revamped.
So get out the cookbooks, sports memories, questions
and send them on in. All ages of writers are needed!
Be a part of the Sports Lore adventure
you will make happen.
