The Olympic games have a storied history
of being the biggest worldwide competition in sports.
More than 200 countries bring their best athletes to
compete in events from basketball to fencing.
WD-40
has a storied history of being the best squeak stopper
on the planet. It only figures, then, that WD-40 would
make an appearance at the 2004 Olympic games.
A Wall of Nations, erected for this summer's
Olympics in Athens, became squeaky over the course of
the games, according to the San Diego NBC affiliate.
"The wall is meant to move with the
wind, but it is doing much more than that," according
to NBC 7/39 reporter Bill Menish. "The sound most
closely resembles that of a whale."
While Menish was touring Athens and soliciting
suggested fixes to the problem, WD-40 came up many times!
It worked.
Football is one of the toughest sports
around. Players, equipment and gear take a beating.
It's not uncommon to have to fix equipment before, during
or after a game. WD-40 should be in every equipment
manager's arsenal. Try WD-40 on the gridiron to:
- Help remove and install new cleats
- Prevent metal components of shoulder
pads from rusting. Do not use WD-40 on plastic components
- Lubricate air pump handles
- Remove permanent marker stains from
dry erase boards
