One of the trick questions in NASCAR trivia is to ask which set of brothers has won the most races in the sport's history. The answer is the Petty brothers, Richard and Maurice, even though Maurice never won a race in his 26 starts as a driver.

The green flag waves for the 1966 World 600 with Richard Petty, a 200-time winner, starting from the pole. From 1961 to 1985, Maurice Petty's engines won 212 races and had 754 top-10 finishes, helping make he and Richard NASCAR's most successful brothers.
Richard, of course, won 200 races, but most of those were won using engines built by Maurice, the younger brother, who Saturday night joined Richard and their father, Lee, as members of the NMPA Stock Car Racing Hall of Fame.

Maurice Petty did finish in the top 10 in 16 of the 26 races he competed in, but his expertise was in tuning the motors that powered Richard to NASCAR stardom. From 1961 to 1985, Maurice's engines won 212 races and had 754 top-10 finishes. He also built engines for drag racers and sports cars and won five NASCAR championships and seven mechanic of the year awards.
