There are football terms that mean one
thing, and then mean another on Super Bowl Sunday. At
least for those hosting parties, Here is what some of
those familiar football sayings may mean on the "Big
Game Day".
Super Bowl
describes the size of the bowl holding potato chips
or pretzels. It is a bigger bowl then the one used during
the regular season games. Mostly because nobody wants
to replenish the bowl during game breaks thus missing
the Super Bowl commercials. Often best part of the game.
Touch Back
describes what your wallet feels if you are hosting
the Super Bowl party.
Offensive
describes what anybody routing for the opposite team
becomes if his or her team is winning. Also used to
describe anybody telling you how to make the hot wings
you served hotter.
Interception
describes catching a tipped glass of drink before it
spills.
Kick Off
describes the start of a Super Bowl party and sooner
or later an argument. Often leads to a Two-Minute
Warning.
Right Guard
describes something you seek if wings are really hot.
Zone Defense
describes protecting your seat in front on the television
from other guests.
Hail Mary
describes what a host says hoping the party goes well,
and then later hoping guest leave soon.
Instant Replay
describes what you don't want to hear or smell again
after the bean dip kicks in.
Over and Under
describes the feeling one has during the game drinking,
and then the feeling one has the next day.
First And Ten
describes keeping track of the drinks guest consume.
Hup One, Hup Two,
Hup Three describes helpings to food unless it
is vegetables.
Place Kicker
describes the role of the spouse if other spouse gets
out of line at the party.
Sack describes
the place you think of if the game score is lopsided
after the third quarter.
Blitz describes
a run to the bathroom by numerous people at the same
time.
Which leads to...
Tail Gating

lavatory line.
If anyone else has another meaning for
the football terms, or additional ones, just let me
know. Send me a note through the contact button of Sports
Lore, and we will get your thoughts out there.
Enjoy the game, food, drink, company or
at least the commercials.
