Hello AFL Players, fans and families:

2007 is the fortieth anniversary of the Raiders' AFL championship. Please go to Remember the AFL and click on their 40th Anniversary logo to link to the Raiders page, which now has clippings from their AFL championship game. I'll add more during the year. Also, Charles Oakey has sent me a 1960 article about the as-yet unnamed Raiders' hiring of Eddie Erdelatz.

Finally, you may have seen recent articles about how the NFL and the NFLPA have "thrown away" many former players who contributed heavily to the success of pro football as we know it today. Many of these players (some Hall of Famers) with severe disabilities receive a pittance from the Players Association. The sports media is finally starting to bring this travesty to light. See the article at the New York Times. Many of these wronged players were in the American Football League. If you want to help your old AFL idols, call your local sports talk shows, write letters to the editor, etc., to keep this topic on the front burner. I know your AFL heroes would appreciate it.
