FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 28, 2006
[Simi Valley, CA] The Retired Boxers Foundation
is one-hundred percent behind Superfighter, a new and
innovative sports entertainment event showcasing the
extraordinary talents of the world's elite fighters
in an intensity harnessed atmosphere. "Boxing,
the sport I love, needs a transfusion!" says Alex
"The Bronx Bomber" Ramos, Founder and President
of the Retired Boxers Foundation. "I'm tired of
waiting for our saviour for the sport. I have been in
this game for over twenty-five years and so far, everybody
has an opinion, but only Superfighter is walking the
talk!"
The Retired Boxers Foundation is on the
record about the need to improve the sport so that the
athletes get a fair shake and an opportunity to revive
the fan base. "Everybody wants to know who the
real Heavyweight Champion of the World is, and along
comes this innovative program that changes the sport,
invites new fans, and pays the fighters what they are
worth, and all we hear is the old guard spewing negative
bullshit. What's up with the people who claim to love
this sport? What's up with fighters who are willing
to put their life on the line for a million dollars
when Superfighter is providing them the opportunity
to fight the fight, claim the top spot and win $5 million
dollars? Time to put their money where their mouth is
and step up to the plate!" says Ramos.
Superfighter is elimination, gladiatorial
event showcasing the talents of eight fighters over
the course of four hours and seven bouts, beginning
at the quarter finals. Each bout last no more than four
rounds, with the winner of each bout moving onto the
semi and then final for a US$5,000,000 winner's cheque.
For the first time in history, a fighter will face three
opponents in one day to claim the massive prize. Ramos
remembers the good days when he was in the amateurs,
when he fought three times in one dayfocused on
winning. It's not only Ramos who remembers: It was the
fight for the top spotthe heart and soul of a
real boxer!
Superfighter offers the opportunity to
transcend the boundaries of sports entertainment, bringing
music and unbridled energy, skill and power. Apart from
music and visuals to entice a sensory overload, each
fighter will be introduced to a dark horse entrance
which will provide the fans with an unprecedented high
voltage atmosphere in which to drench their thirst for
the new fighting event of the millennium. "You
want to bring fans back to boxing and introduce it to
new fans, you have to be willing to take a risk, like
we did back in the day when boxing was front page news.
" continued Ramos. "I am sick and tired of
everyone complaining about boxing today, and those same
people are unwilling to take any risks. I am telling
you that the boxers, who are for real
the ones
who want to conquer the BEST, are willing to do Superfighter."
Superfighter will bring back the quarter
finals, where the fans will see all eight fightersthe
ones who are for real--in the first round battle. Winners
progress to the semi finals with losers being eliminated.
The final two fighters left after battling two previous
opponents each will have to battle one last time in
a survival of the fittest to see who the greatest Superfighter
is and walks away with the Superfighter championship.
" Superfighter is a throwback to the days when
boxing was worth watching; when you got to see men who
wanted to win and were willing to fight anyone to prove
they were champions," said Ramos.
"Rather than listening
to Dan Rafael, who berated Superfighter, the fans need
to know the facts about Superfighter," said Ramos.
Here are the facts:
Drawing on the rules and traditions of
classic boxing, Superfighter takes boxing into the 21st
Century.
Between each round, a minimum of one hour
must transpire to allow the winning fighter ample time
to rest and prepare for the ensuing battle. Various
exhibition events and head line music and entertainment
acts will be showcased to the event audience in a never
before witnessed sensory experience.
New and exciting production elements will
be introduced, which will allow the telecast viewer
a much greater insight into the event. These include
but are not limited to;
- Steady cam
- Increase in camera locations and angles
- Fly cam and;
- Super Slow Mo Cam
- Between rounds cardio monitors
- New live OB direction
- Greater number of cameras and microphones
- Computer technology to enhance the statistical education
of the event
The Superfighter format allows for a greater
intensity from the fighters. This brings about much
more action and a greater amount of punches being thrown.
In turn this leads to greater telecast value for the
fan and a more adrenaline saturated live event.
Scoring and Technology
The Superfighter scoring system is wholly owned by Superfighter
Pty Ltd and after final endorsement from current and
former boxers, referees and judges has been agreed as
the fairest and most objective scoring system in boxing.
Who are these current and former boxers? Lennox Lewis
and George Foreman, to name two, in addition to Alex
Ramos.
Superfighter will be telecast exclusively
via international PPV in the majority of markets
For the first time in the history of boxing,
an a PPV Boxing Event, equivalent to no other PPV show,
will give back to the Retired Boxers Foundation in support
of the retired boxers of the past, who left the sport
with no pension, no retirement and more than likely,
some kind of disability or impairment that prevents
them from working in another field. Superfighter is
actually giving 5% of the profits of this historic PPV
event to the fighters who were the warriors that made
boxing what it is today. "Superfighter has already
made a $5,000 donation to the Retired Boxers Foundation
and they walk the talk. Their word is gold. Integrity
and Dignity are as important to Warren Spooner and Stephan
Duval as they are to the Retired Boxers Foundation.
Their integrity is beyond reproach and they have walked
the talk with the RBF.
