From The Sideline

It took a little while, it took a little guessing, but one reader of Sports Lore finally got all the trivia questions right. In the process many wrote in with some answers, some wrote in with wrong answers, one wrote in calling me a "creep". I took that for what it is worth. Nobody would talk like that to the Ladies of Sports Lore. However, me they will. It comes with the job.

It turns out the first one to write in with all the correct answers lived in the neighborhood, more or less. He has supported Sports Lore since we first started stumbling along. In fact his recipe called "Gourmet Burger" was one of the first write ins to our site to be printed. It was mighty tasty burger as the bride, I, four kids, and two quick dogs tried it out. Well it seems our friend Tom scratched his head mightily and came up with the right solutions to Angela's and Michelle's Football Quiz. Here is his letter.

"Hey Mike, after racking my brain for hours trying to figure out this quiz, and then another couple of hours trying to send the answers to Angela and Michelle, I decided it would be easier to send them to you and you can forward it to them.

So here goes. The first one was easy. Seven squared--------49ers, Six Rulers--------Vikings, King of Beasts-------- Lions, IOU--------Bills, Army Insects--------Giants, A Dollar For Corn--------Buccaneers, Streakers--------Bears, Trained Birds--------Falcons, Opposite of Ewes--------Rams, Hostile Attackers--------Raiders, Hot Epidermis--------Redskins, Indian Leaders--------Chiefs, Thieves--------Stealers, Lubricators--------Oilers, Six Shooters--------Colts, Rodeo Horses--------Broncos, Ocean Going Birds--------Seahawks, Sun Tanned Bodies--------Browns, Louie Armstrong's favorite song--------Saints, Credit Card Users--------Chargers, Fundamental Rules--------Cardinals, American Gauche--------Cowboys, 747--------Jets, Helpers to Relocate--------Packers, a Class of Boy Scout--------EAGLES, American Revolutionists--------Patriots.

Ok, that was a lot of typing. I hope I did good and I won the million dollar prize!!!!!!!!!!! You know where to find me if I did, hehe. Let me know how I did ok? Tom

Well Tom, you were the first to get them all correct. However you are a bit off on the million dollar prize. What we could do is get some of the gang at Sports Lore to join you in a few drinks at our local beer garden called Tom Fischers. Oh yea, we checked under coach pillows and came up with the prize you are holding. A brand new, in wrapping paper, mouse pad. At our personal expense we had your favorite team, The Philadelphia Eagles, emblazoned on the front of it. As the picture shows, Tom, we took our hat off to you being the winner. We overlooked the fact you kept your hat on.

From left to right in the front row we have ace webmaster Jerry, in the center is bar co-owner Jim Fischer. Holding the grand prize, with hat on head, is the winner Tom of South New Jersey. Behind this crew towering over the rest of us is "Hey Beer Man" Kevin, skinny me Mike Toone is in the middle, with Chef Mike providing the last smile.

Now getting the six of us to smile was not so hard. My friend Tiffany, pictured at left, did the honors. She not only easily got us to smile, but did a good job of snapping the picture. Hats on to her.

On behalf of Angela, Michelle, Jerry, Kevin, Chef Mike, and myself we thank all of our readers who gave the quiz a try. We thank all who have written in this past few months. Next year will be something new. For now thanks to Tom for supporting us and Tiffany for the great picture.

There is no mistake in these pictures who looks better in a hat. Till next year please keep checking in and let us know your thoughts.
