Bernie was born June
24, 1961 in Haliburton, Ontario.
Bernie retired from the San Jose Sharks
in 1998 to become one of their assistant coaches. He
scored 475 goals and 734 assists for 1,209 points in
1,127 games and ranks 32nd on both the NHL all-time
goals and assists list. He is 26th all-time in points
and a three-time NHL All-Star (1984, 1989, 1990). He
spent his first nine seasons with the Los Angeles Kings,
who called him up in 1982. He also played with the New
York Rangers, Edmonton Oilers, New Jersey Devils and
Chicago Blackhawks. He is only one of a handful of NHL
players to score more than 70 goals in a season (1988-89).
Bernie loves playing golf and is part
owner of the New Mexico Scorpions of the WPHL. Bernie
is the father of twins, Flynn and McKenna. His personal
sports hero is his father, George.
